How does state license verification work on Roo?

Adding a state license

Signing up for Roo

During registration, you’ll enter your license number and state. Once submitted, Roo automatically verifies your license. This can be within minutes for some states, but can take up to 3 business days. No additional steps are needed at this stage.

Adding a new state license

You can add a license for any state where you’re licensed and want to work. Head to your Roo profile and select “Add license” to get started.

How long does verification take?

Roo automatically verifies your license through Certemy, our verification partner. Verification can take up to 3 business days.

Once your license is verified, you’ll receive:

  • A confirmation email
  • A notification in your account inbox
  • An updated status in your Roo profile showing “Verified”

What does each license status mean?

  • Verified: Your license is confirmed and in good standing. You’re ready to request shifts in that state.
  • Pending: Your license is being verified and can take up to 3 business days.
  • Expired: Your license has passed its expiration date. You won’t be able to work shifts in that state until it’s renewed with your state board and re-verified.
  • Unable to verify: We couldn’t confirm your license. See below for next steps.

My license shows "Unable to Verify", what steps should I take?

If you are seeing in your account that we are unable to verify your license, it’s usually due to a mismatch with state records. Here’s what to check:

  1. Head to your account and double-check your license number, state, and your first and last name. Make sure there are no missing digits, typos, or name differences from what appears on your state license record. You can confirm it on your state board’s website.
  2. If everything looks accurate, reach out to us at hello@roo.vet. Our support team will help sort it out as quickly as possible.

What do I need to do when my license is expiring soon?

Just renew your license with your state board. No action is needed in Roo!

Once your state processes the renewal, Roo will automatically re-verify your license. This can take up to 3 business days, so it’s best to renew ahead of time to avoid any interruptions. We’ll notify you once it’s verified.

We’ll also send reminders starting 90 days before your license expires.
