Reviewing Eligibility & Experience: Choosing the Right Relief Vet or Tech for your Hospital

One of the things Practice Managers’ love most about Roo is they get to choose who works at their hospital. This also means you’re responsible for reviewing the experience and credentials of Vets and Techs BEFORE confirming shifts.

You can always find a Vet or Tech’s experience, procedures they’re proficient in, and any credentials they hold — including licenses, DEA registration, Fear Free Certification, and more — in their Profile, which you can open by clicking their name in any Shift Request.

What credentials can I require when creating shifts?

For Veterinarians:

  • State licenses are ALWAYS required
  • You can check a box to Require a DEA license

For Technicians:

  • You can check a box to Require a State Tech License/Certification/Registration

Technician Tiers

Our Roo Technicians are sorted into Tech Tiers based on their skillsets and procedures they’re great at. We take Tier Placements seriously and always make sure we’re confident in a Vet Tech’s skills before advancing them to the next tier.

Heads Up: California has unique regulations, so CA Tech Tiers work a bit differently.

What if I already Confirmed a Vet or Tech before realizing they don’t have the right credentials or experience?

We take the health and safety of you patients seriously and want to ensure the Vet or Techs helping at your hospital have the skills to do the job right and deliver quality care.

However, in cases where a Vet or Tech has already been confirmed, our Cancellation Policy still applies. As long as you catch the issue early, there will be no financial penalty to your hospital: As a reminder, you can cancel a shift for free if it’s more than 8 weeks away, and you’ll receive a partial refund until the shift is under 2 weeks away.

Taking a few extra minutes to verify qualifications upfront can save you time, money, and ensure a smoother experience for everyone involved.

If you need to create a shift that will requires additional qualifications, our team is happy to help customize your shift requirements — just 💬 reach out to our Roo Support Heroes. We’re always happy to help!
